Snetterton race reports

After a successful test at the fast circuit near Norfolk the Robertshaw team and driver were looking forward to a solid weekend.

Qualifying took place on a dry circuit and Vaulkhard was going well, however once again luck was not on the young North Easterners side after a problem with the electrics which has blighted the team all season reared its ugly head once again.

Race 1 Vaulkhard got away from the line well and was running just outside the top ten but battling hard with manufacturers and front running independents, un fortunately throughout the race it beca,e clear the set-up on the car had not been optimised as the overall pace of Vaulkhards Lacetti was not good enough later in the race.

Race 2 With some set-up tweaks after learning from the first race the North east based team and driver were optimistic of some top 10 finishes in the 2nd & 3rd races of the day. After a good start Vaulkhard was making up positions and after making a pass on Matt Jackson at Sear corner, the young gun was chasing two of the works Vauxhall’s and two front running independents. In the mêlée that was the braking area for turn 3 after the longest straight in the UK Vaulkhard had managed to make a move to take 3 further positions promoting him up to 8th position, unfortunately it was to be short lived after a tap to the rear of Harry’s car saw him spin and get T-boned by the chasing Andrew Jordan. The impact cost Vaulkhard 5 or 6 positions and had caused damaged to the tracking and front wheels on the car, as the race progressed Vaulkhard was clawing back the positions he lost in the impact only to have the front right tyre explode under braking and causing the youngster to drop a lap down while getting the wheel changed in the pit lane.

Race 3 Again Vaulkhard got away to a good start and was lying in 10th position, which was actually to be 9th as after the race Adam Jones was disqualified for breaking the rules. Once again Bad luck sided with the Chevrolet team and after several laps Vaulkhard was struggling with a fuel pump problem, which caused the car to slow and drop down to 11th after quickly switching to the reserve pump Vaulkhard continued and began to close down on 10th place again, and once again bad luck raised its head with Vaulkhard suffering another blow out and ending the race a lap down after going to the pits for a wheel change.

Harry commented on the events of the weekend. “Well it’s another frustrating weekend for us we just seem to be getting everyone else’s bad luck all of the time, we should have had yet another two top 10 finishes and through no fault of our own once again we weren’t able to carry out what we know we can do.”
